*waves*

I guess it's been a while, hasn't it. I have my reasons for going off the grid (so to speak), but I'm not going to go into them. Nobody wants a long, rambling post about the deep stuff on a Tuesday morning. Suffice it to say, there have been reasons and even coming back and writing this feels like a big task. You know when you put something off for so long and it suddenly becomes a lot bigger and a lot scarier than it started? That happened.

In reality, I'm writing this to prove to myself that I can. It's like a test, a challenge I'm setting myself that I have to complete. I have a habit of letting myself be overwhelmed by life. I take on projects or find new hobbies and suddenly cannot cope. I put a lot of pressure on myself to succeed and inevitably it all just gets so big and terrifying and I just...stop.

This is me not stopping.

I'm not ready to give up yet, I'm not ready to lose this blog as a creative outlet. But all the same, there are going to be some significant changes. I'm still not quite in a position to actually decide what those changes will be, but I do know that I'm not going to be limiting myself any more. I have lived and breathed books since I read Heidi in primary school with my teacher and learnt the word 'quenched'. My love for books will never be quenched. But there is a lot more to me than books, and I think it's time to let the other sides of me roam a little freer. At the moment I just want to write - I'm not worried what about, I just want to put pen to paper or finger to keyboard and make words.

I'm currently deciding whether to start entirely afresh, create a new blog and hope that there is still something in it that you delightful people find interesting. The other option is to stick with Lit Nerd and see where I can take it, and, again, hope that you will join me for the ride. Either way, I guess I'll let you know.

I don't know when this will be. Maybe this week, maybe next. Maybe October, maybe November. It may never happen, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

I love change, and I hope you do too.

  2. Well hello! It's super nice to see you back, even if it's just a brief stop by :) I would love to write something profound here that will make you feel better but I'm hastily typing while scoffing pitta bread just to say something. So let's just pretend that I said something profound, even though all I can think of to write is that you've been a fixture in my Favourites folder on Feedly for ages because I love all of your posts, not just the ones about books!

When I started my new job and became a lot busier, I almost let go of Lit Addicted Brit but then I figured that I'd spent a lot of time building it up and making friends through it so I just decided that I'd keep it low key. I post when I can but I don't feel bad when I can't. Trying to fit it into a schedule or timetable wouldn't work for me so now I just use it as somewhere to babble whenever I have a mo or two.

Post whatever you fancy, whenever you fancy and I'll read the heck out of it, even if I don't always scratch together the minutes to write drivel at the bottom of it! Hope you're ok - feel free to email/tweet if you want to waffle at anyone :)

    1. Thank you so much, Charlotte. I think it's profound to not say anything profound (is that profound too?)! That was my first thought too - it crossed my mind that it would be easier to just stop, but then I would be losing far more than just a place to write about books. It's you guys that make this whole thing amazing.

Thank you for reading and being lovely :D

  3. The most interesting blogs/bloggers are always evolving. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next, whether it's with this blog or a new one. Good luck!

  4. I was beginning to worry that you'd given up or worse been eaten by the Facebook monster! So welcome back.

I look forward to reading whatever you want to post here. I'm sure that it will be worth it. Your reviews have certainly given me some reading ideas. I don't think there's any great reason to create another Blog. You're still a Lit Nerd whatever direction you fancy going in so I'd keep the title and just post what you like, when you like.

  6. Hi Ellie!

My own blog has been very quiet as well, I just didn't feel that much writing (or reading) in the end of summer. But I feel more inspired to blog now that autumn has begun.

Personally I like blogs that are not about books only because I like getting to know the author from different angles, so to say.

  7. It's lovely to see you back Ellie, hope you can get to a point where you can decide what you'd most like to do, and I'll always look forward to reading your posts and seeing where things take you! I am thinking about my own blog too just now, not sure reviews etc are right for me anymore.

    1. Thank you, Lindsay. That's really lovely to hear. I think it's hard to stick with the same basic blog structure when we're constantly changing. I look forward to seeing how your blog changes, if that is what you decide.

  8. ELLIE! *tackle-hugs!* Nice to see your updates, and I just want to add my voice to others and say that I'll be glad to see what you end up doing with your blog. And if things are quiet, that's OK, life happens, and I'll still be here to read anything you have to write when you write it. I might not always comment but I do really enjoy reading what you have to say. :)
